About Crowe Marine

I personally would like to thank you for reading this blog.  This is where I can share with you something that I have grown to really love...this company.  I hope if you do not already, that you will join me soon enough!

Crowe Marine first opened its doors in 1959.  The dream began with fishing trips on the St. John's River in Astor, Florida.  Two brothers, C.D. and Robert Crowe, along with C.D.'s son Bill, would leave East Point, Georgia and head south to "Ormand's Jungle Den Fish Camp," in Astor, Florida.

The men would take the trip twice a year to fish.  After several years heading south for these fishing trips, C.D. Crowe approached the owner of Ormand's to buy one of his rental boats.  The owner said, "you don't want to buy one of these beat up boats. I will hook you up with the boat builder and let you buy one at my cost."  The boat company was Orlando Clipper.

C.D. traveled to Orlando, Florida in the mid 1950's and bought one boat.  The Orlando Clipper was intended for personal use by the Crowe family and they kept it out in front of Crowe Sign Company in East Point, Georgia.  One day a gentleman came along and was interested in buying that boat.  C.D. sold him the boat and went back to Orlando and bought two more Orlando Clipper boats.  Thus began the first generation of Crowes in the marine business.  In 1964, Bill Crowe joined his father's business and is still active in the showroom every day.

In 1994, Brian Crowe, Bill's son, joined his father in the business.  Since then, Bill, his wife Julie, Brian, and his wife Beth all run the business and can be seen every Tuesday through Saturday meeting customers and working with their passion, the boats.

In 1996 the family made a brave decision to pick up and move their successful business to the Lake Oconee area.  Bill and his family had spent many weekends enjoying beautiful Lake Oconee.  After much discussion, Bill and Brian moved the business to it's current location in February 1996.  It was a risk, but today you can see the rapid growth the Lake Oconee area has had. Bill, Julie, Brian and Beth have never looked back on their decision to relocate.  If you drive by today, you will see a family friendly business with the largest selection of boats on Lake Oconee.

The company has changed its new boat lineup several times over the years.  Currently we sell new Bennington pontoon, Chaparral, Hurricane, and Kawasaki Jet Skis.  In addition, our parts department sells a complete lineup of parts and accessories as well as Hyperlite and HO watersports gear.

Our service department provides in house and on the lake service, repair, and maintenance.  All of our techs are Yamaha certified professionals.

Basically, we are a one stop shop for all of your Lake Oconee, Lake Sinclair, and Lake Jackson fun on the water needs!  Come on by and see us anytime at 1010 Lake Oconee Parkway in Eatonton.

Ta-Ta-Ta-Tubing

Picture this: Its a hot summer day on Lake Oconee.  You have the day off from work.  You and the kids are just relaxing at the lake on your new Bennington Pontoon or Chaparral Deck Boat that you purchased at the beginning of the summer from Crowe Marine.  Your nine year old daughter looks up at you and says, "I'm bored."

A nice family day at the lake can only be improved by one thing, I mean, in the eyes of the children.  That one thing...WATERSPORTS!

Nobody knows watersports better than our very own George Hooker.  If you come in and visit the parts and "toys" department at Crowe Marine, you will meet him.  And he will talk your ear off about wakeboarding, waterskiing, wakesurfing, standing paddle boarding, and, my personal favorite, tubing.

Our store room is full of boats.  Each boat, though, is surrounded by tubes.  Tubes on the walls, tubes blown up on the floor, tubes in boxes in tubes blown up on the floor.  We are inundated with tubes!

There are tubes for everyone!  We have 1 person tubes, 2 person tubes, 3 person tubes!  Tubes for skinny people and tubes for, well, full-grown not skinny people.  And even better, if you don't see the tube you want, we will order it for you and have it here very fast (I believe New Englanders would say "wicked fast").

Below are just a sampling of the tubes that we have in our showroom.  We have more, and we can get any that you may want!  What could make a day at the lake better?  Ta-ta-ta-tubing!

Lake Oconee Resident Sam Henry To Compete in the Nautique King Of Wake Tournament in Orlando

The 2013 Nautique King of Wake tournament will commence April 25th at the Orlando Water Watersports Complex.  Local resident Sam Henry is gearing up to strut his stuff during the elite competition of the world's best wakeboarders.

Mr. Henry has been a long time customer of Crowe Marine.  He was first introduced to the sport of wakeboarding through his god brother, and then met Crowe Marine’s George Hooker.  One of the George’s first Hyperlite Wakeboard demo class students, the two have worked closely together.  Ready to go pro, Sam moved down to Orlando, one of the world’s wakeboarding hotspots.

You can catch Sam performing in all of the Performance Ski & Surf Gravel Tour Orlando dates (for more information about the 2013 Gravel Tour:  http://www.graveltour.com/2013_Performance_Ski_and_Surf_Gravel_Tour/The_Gravel_Tour_Homepage.html).
Starting today, April 25th, you can support Sam as he competes in the 2013 Nautique Wake Games (King of Wake) at the Orlando Watersports Complex.  He will be qualifying in the Mens 1 division.  More information can be found on their website: http://wakeboardingmag.com/2013-wake-games/

Sam wanted to share this tidbit with anyone starting out in this exciting sport: “just go out and have fun with it and don’t hold back!”  He says that he took three years off and trying to play catch-up now is no fun!
Continue to stay tuned here for future updates as our local hero tries to break into the pro wakeboarding ranks!
